Environmental policy

Protecting the environment as we work

Because trees are such an integral part of our lives, we cannot but be aware that our work with them can affect that environment.

Trees are important for so many reasons: beauty, shelter, habitat, well-being, shade, screening, shape, fruit and timber, not to mention breathing. Careful consideration of our work is therefore very important.

We have an environmental policy which includes:

  • Recycling arisings from tree operations
  • Minimising toxic emissions through the selection and use of equipment and power requirements – so far we are struggling in finding an effective alternative to our Landrovers, but in saws we have embraced battery power where we can, exceptionally sharp handsaws for pruning, petrol for the woodchipper (as opposed to diesel) and when using petrol chainsaws we always use biodegradable oil and a particularly pure form of two stroke petrol that reduces emissions.
  • Actively promoting recycling both internally and amongst clients and suppliers
  • Discouraging unnecessary felling of trees and promoting re-planting and aftercare
  • Meeting or exceeding environmental legislation relating to the company and its practices
  • Achieving these aims by keeping a record of environmental procedural aims and achievements
